Classroom to Office
Calloway County High School has recently learned some very sad news. Our beloved guidance secretary/registrar, Mrs. Maria, will be retiring at the end of September. Mrs. Maria is very hard-working, helping to hold this school together for many years. While Mrs. Maria will be hard to replace, someone very worthy will be taking her spot, previous career networking program administrator, Tina Ward.
Mrs.Ward is not new to the Calloway County School District, originally starting work for the system in the fall of 1998. For five years Ward was a district employee. She took a s then she returned in 2018. She has experience in most levels of education, with a B.S. in child development and nine years of work at CCHS.
Most recently working as the Career Networking program administrator, Mrs. Ward could be seen in her classroom monitoring students as they come in and out of the classroom and complete college classes online. While in the office, Mrs. Ward will be completing work on Infinite Campus as well as paperwork. She says, “There's a lot that goes on...some things I think I will master quickly, other things I will learn more day by day.” Mrs. Ward went from monitoring in a classroom to working in the office helping with administration, guidance, and other areas of the office such as registration. Mrs. Ward is no stranger to office work though, for she could always be seen helping around the school and in the office, even as the Career Networking program administrator. This is a huge factor as to why Mrs. Ward got the position in the office. Student, Savannah Scott, said,” She’s the perfect person for the job.”
Overall, Mrs. Ward said she is excited to take on this role; however, most students are sad to see her leave the classroom. Mrs. Ward is someone students love interacting with and talking to, although she will be missed in the classroom, these are qualities needed in an office position. Mrs. Ward also stated,” I enjoyed my time in the classrooms and will forever treasure the friendships I made with the students, but I am also looking forward to the challenges and opportunities the office will offer.” It is clearly assured that Mrs. Ward will live up to Mrs. Marias expectations and that the office will continue operating as normal, just with a new face for many years to come.
