Dedicated Teacher Retires After 21 Years

In the special education branch of our school, we have had an amazing teacher for the last 21 years in Ms. Denise Steele. During these 21 years, 16 have been spent at North Elementary and, most recently, five years have been at Calloway County High School.

Ms. Steele decided to follow in her family's footsteps and pursue teaching, for her family has been a long line of teachers. Teachers in her family include her grandfather, her mother, her father, both of her sisters, and her niece. Ms. Steele is also motivated by the wish to see all of her kids become their best. She says that her favorite part of being a special education teacher is working with the kids and helping them meet their goals. Advice that Ms. Steele gives to anyone who plans to become a teacher in the future is, “Be flexible and try to make everyday a great day.”

Ms. Steele has dedicated her career to helping students with disabilities to succeed. Special education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning, emotional, and physical disabilities, and they use specialized teaching techniques and strategies to help these students to overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential. Being a special education teacher is a job not all people are cut out to do, and those who are willing to dedicate themselves to this career deserve everyone’s respect.

Ms. Steele has spent many years working with students with disabilities, and she has made a tremendous impact on the lives of countless students and families she has had the opportunity to teach. Ms. Steele works tirelessly to create a supportve and inclusive learning environment, and has developed strong relationships with her students, colleagues, and the students' families. She has made a real difference in the lives of her students.

After she retires, Steele plans to move to Nashville to be closer to her son, as well as visit her other kids and eight grandchildren.

Overall, Ms. Steele is someone who has dedicated her life to making the world a better place for students with disabilities, and she deserves our gratitude and respect for her hard work and dedication.

We wish you the best of luck in the next chapter of your life, Ms. Steele.
