Smiths Section V48-Issue 2

SMITH SHOUTOUTS

Faculty/Staff Shoutout

For this issue of The Laker Review, Principal Smith wanted to give a shout out to a teacher that is not only the daughter and sibling of former Lakers, but also a former Laker herself.

Mrs. Taylor Fraser, who teaches within the Special Education department, is described as the “epitome of a Laker-4-Life" by Smith. She is what most could consider a true professional, while always being able to connect with her students on a personal level. Fraser’s dedication, compassion, and spirit for learning make her one of the best at Calloway County High School.

The next shoutout for this issue is Coach Bruce Lane. Coach Lane is our resident gym teacher and the assistant boys basketball coach.

Lane is a “school person” through and through and is always there to lend a hand whenever you need one. Coach Lane is a major player behind the scenes for the betterment of our school and students. His constant positivity and kind demeanor make him one of the favorites among CCHS students.

Student Participation and Encouragement

Today was a day of fun for students at Calloway County High School. Students had the chance to have a day off from classwork to relax and have fun before the start of Thanksgiving Break.

Events and activities were held in celebration of student accomplishments on the K.S.A. state testing from the prior school year. The games were organized by the CCHS Leadership CCR class. The students in that class had a meeting with Principal Smith several weeks prior, discussing the variety of events to be held and which student would be running each event. Said students were also tasked with recording the winning members of each class, who would then be called down to the floor at the end-of-day assembly in the gymnasium to participate in a ‘tournament of champions’ to get our final winner(s) of the day.

The winning students received a grand prize of getting the rest of the week off.

Mr. Smith wishes a Happy Thanksgiving to all students, staff, and members of our community.
