The Laker Star
Everyone at some point in his or her life has had a substitute teacher, but Calloway High has a substitute that is held dear in the heart of the school and stands out more than most subs. This man has had a substantial impact on many of the students and faculty at this school and is most popularly known as Mr. Norsworthy.
Robert Norsworthy was born on January 11th, 1938, in Kirksey Ky. He is the beloved son of Tremon W. and Pernie Jo (Copeland) Norsworthy.
Many students know him as the “cool sub” and much of his popularity might come from the hunky lawn chair he lugs in every morning. Another source of his popularity might be his expression “Fist bump, explode, call it in again,” which he cites routinely for every class he has.
Mr. Norsworthy has done many wonderful things in his long life. One thing you cannot forget that Mr. Norsworthy has done is the many famous movies he has starred in. He is best known for the movies: Love's Long Journey (2005), Prairie Fever (2008) and Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack (1998).
Robert Norsworthy has some of the most precious relationships with the students here at Calloway. According to Mr. Norsworthy, working for Calloway is very “heartwarming” and makes him feel “proud to be here every day.” According to Mr. Norsworthy, he comes to this school weekly and looks at these children like they are his own.
Norsworthy strives every day to make the kids attending Calloway High feel safe, welcomed, and at home when he is around. He never wants a kid to feel out of place or like they do not belong.
Robert Norsworthy has gone as far as making a handshake with the kids before he starts class to try and get the kids a little more motivated. He does as much as he can every single day of the week to try and help teachers, students, and even other staff members.
Mr. Norsworthy does his best here at Calloway for all students, no matter how hard it might be for him.
Because he does so much for the school and puts his faith in everyone, Mr. Robert Norsworthy is our Laker star.
