Lowe Breaks Records and Leads Team

The CCHS Lady Lakers didn’t have the hottest start to the year, but they have been showing signs of improvement.

The team has been clicking as of late, winning against Murray, St. Mary, and CFS. The star of the show has been Sayler Lowe, who has been on an absolute tear as of late. She broke the record for youngest player to reach 1000 points and youngest player to reach the 500-rebound mark. Lowe absolutely dominates the competition, scoring 27 points against CFS. She is one of the most dominant players in the region and is a known force for the Lady Lakers, forging the team into contention for the district championship.

She couldn’t do it alone, however, and has a stellar supporting cast of Jaiden Koch, Jaycee Crouch, Addi Schumacher, and Carson Mcreynolds.

Koch is the team's point guard and has performed well in that role. She played last season as an 8th grader and has clearly put the work in this offseason to be a better player and point guard.

Jaycee Crouch is another guard for the Lady Lakers, and she is a quick and agile player. Crouch, although small in stature and a defensive type of player, finds ways to create on the offensive end.

Addi Schumacher is the shooter for the Lady Lakers. She has been the Lady Lakers leading three-point shooter, with 28 threes this season.  A veteran leader for the Lady Lakers, Schumacher has become the heart and soul of this team at times this season.

Speaking of veteran leadership, another senior is Carson McReynolds, and she is one of the players down low for the Lady Lakers. She plays solid defense anywhere on the court and has a solid post-game that she leans on for most of her scoring.

The Lady Lakers is a very young team with a first-time head coach, and the signs of improvement are very positive to see. Wins are always good for a young team because that instills confidence. The team needs to get in a rhythm, and they could beat almost anyone in the region.

They begin their quest to Lexington on February 21st at Marshall for the district tournament.
