MSU Art Show Winners
It is no secret that the Calloway Lakers have a vast amount of hardworking and talented students. Despite what it may look like, pursuing the arts is not easy. Like most anything, It takes months (sometimes years) of practice to make progress.
This spring, the Laker Review would like to make a special acknowledgement to five extraordinarily talented individuals who were showcased in the Ky AEA All-State Purchase/Pennyrile Regional High School Art Exhibition at Murray State’s Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery. Cate Anderson, Emma Boike, Vivian Slaton, Molly Underhill, and Ellie Whisman all had pieces featured in the show, ranging from fiber arts to printmaking.
One student even received an award for her piece. Senior Ellie Whisman won first place in the textile and fiber arts category with “Emotion Suspended,” and will be moving onto the state-level competition in Covington KY. She will also be eligible to win a state award for her piece should she place at that level.
We would like to wish these girls a big congratulations on this huge accomplishment and further encourage our readers to check out the Murray State Art Show where these individuals are featured on the MSU Art Department’s Facebook page.
