Random Acts of Kindness

Random acts of kindness are becoming less common in society nowadays, which is why CCHS has implemented a reward system for them and other good deeds. Students are recognized by teachers for exemplary behavior, for random acts of kindness, and for following the BE RED initiative.  When a teacher sees a student exemplifying these behaviors, the teacher turns the student's name in to the front office.  The name is read aloud over the intercom during CCR.  The students are given a choice of an assortment of candies and chocolates as a reward.

Face to face interaction has declined as a result of Covid 19, leading to a decrease in interpersonal skills.  Without these skills, there are significantly less people completing random good deeds and acts of kindness.  Many people believe that these acts are not important because they do not complete any certain task; however, these acts create a sense of community and family.

When interviewed about the school culture, several CCHS students and staff stated that they feel this year has seen a turn for the better.  Under the leadership of Principal Steve Smith, the school culture has become more positive with less incidents of misbehavior among students.  Most students agree that the BE RED initiative has led to increased random acts of kindness.
