Calloway Super Seniors
Most athletes' main goal in high school is to play at the next level. For Cadwell Turner, Braden Pingel, and Carson McReynolds, this dream will come true. Both Turner and Pingel committed to further their baseball careers at Rend Lake College in Illinios and McReynolds is furthering her softball career at Dyersburg State. The Calloway baseball team will now send 3 players in 2 years to the Warriors at Rend Lake. When Turner and Pingel arrive, they will join former Laker Star, Matthew Ray.
Cadwell Turner is the Lakers superstar on the diamond. He was the Laker’s leading hitter last year, and if it were not for a shoulder injury preventing him from pitching a significant amount of the time, Turner likely would have been a top option on the mound last year. “I suffered a pinched nerve in my throwing shoulder, and it affected my stamina and my throwing power,” Turner said. Turner has said that he feels his shoulder is back to 100 percent.
Braden Pingel has been a member of the high school team for 5 years now, and he has come a long way since he joined the team. When asked what he has been improving for this season, Pingel said, “I have been trying to improve my strength and my speed. Hitting was also a huge part of my offseason programs.” Pingel has been a speed threat for the Lakers since he began getting time on the varsity team.
Carson McReynolds is a star softball player for the Lady Lakers and now Dyersburg State Community College. She said her focus is to, “. . . win the 2A State title again and another district championship.” McReynolds is a catcher and outfielder for the Lady Lakers and a former player for the Tennessee Illusions. “I have tried to develop as a leader this offseason for my teammates,” McReynolds said.
